Ah, it’s The Rose Quartz’s 1st birthday today and I’m feeling so proud.
One year ago today, almost to the exact minute, I was laid in bed with blistered feet because of an afternoon of disastrous ice-skating. I had always wanted to start a blog, but I never found the time and/or confidence to do so. I kind of reached a “why not?” point in my life, so I cracked open WordPress and I’ve never looked back. On the first night, I spent hours – I’m not over-exaggerating here, we’re talking three or four… – deciding on a theme, fonts, colours and a title. That was serious fun for someone as obsessed with perfection as me.
If you’ve been around since the start, and I’m so happy that a lot of you have been, you’ll remember that this blog wasn’t always called The Rose Quartz. Right at the start, it was called The Secret Diary of a Computer Science Student. One day, I realised it wasn’t very snappy so, although I absolutely loved the personal touch that name had, I changed it to something shorter, snappier and just as personal to me. You can read about the meaning behind my blog name here!
One year and 265 blog posts later, it’s still one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve met so many fantastic people, some I’m pleased to call friends, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some wonderful companies, I’ve grown my social media following and I’ve learnt a lot.
Having somewhere to write, advise, fangirl and share my photography was the basic base that The Rose Quartz was built upon, and that hasn’t changed. It’s still my favourite place on the Internet!
Thanks for making my stay here so enjoyable. It would be boring without you.
Happy birthday, blog!
