Saturday’s Super Six | Game of Thrones Characters

Writing a post about Game of Thrones was never going to be easy. Not only is it incredibly difficult to actually choose my favourite characters, but all their names are underlined with red squiggly lines… Yeah, none of them are in the dictionary. I can’t be dealing with that!

Let’s get on with this.

Game of Thrones Deanerys Targaryen

Game of Thrones (The ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series, if you’re a book reader) is a fantastic story full of fantasy, brutality, betrayal, familial war, monsters, dragons and, to be completely honest, boobs. It’s really great. When talking about Game of Thrones though, you’ve got to admit to the absolute insane number of characters that are included in both the books and the series. At some points, it’s almost impossible to remember everyone’s name – but the ones you do remember… oh my, they’re memorable.

Here are my six favourite Game of Thrones characters, and trust me, this was a hard decision to make!

Daenerys Targaryen:

Game of Thrones Daenerys Targaryen

This was, without a doubt, the easiest choice in tonight’s “super six”. She is Queen Daenerys of House Targaryen, First of Her Name, Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons. As if you needed anything other than that, she is incredible.

The best.

Favourite quote:

Missandei: Valar Morghulis.
Daenerys Targaryen: Yes. All men must die, but we are not men.

Tyrion Lannister:

Game of Thrones Tyrion Lannister

Mocked for his size, hated by his father, falsely accused for murder and completely unappreciated. Yet, Tyrion is very intelligent, witty, sarcastic, hilarious and kind. Sadly, everyone he’s surrounded by is miserable and angry, so they just can’t see how great he is. I’m so excited to see how Tyrion’s story progresses in Season 6.

Favourite quote:

[Tyrion slaps Joffrey]

Margaery Tyrell:

Game of Thrones Margaery Tyrell

Margaery is known for her beauty and kindness. Little does everyone in Westeros know, she’s very cunning. She has plans. For me though, it’s those sassy eyebrows.

Favourite quote:

Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish: Do you want to be a queen?
Margaery Tyrell: No. I want to be *the* queen.

Grey Worm:

Game of Thrones Grey Worm

Grey Worm, Commander of the Unsullied (a horrifically abused slave army, before Daenerys freed them), is not only an incredible fighter but also completely loyal friend and companion of my boss lady, Dany Targaryen.

Favourite quote:

Grey Worm: A single day of freedom is worth more than a lifetime in chains.

Jon Snow:

Game of Thrones Jon Snow

Obviously, Jon Snow had to be on this list… cause, it’s Jon Snow. Moody, and practically known as a “scowl” with body, Jon stomps his way across Westeros not quite knowing the importance of his role in the war.

Spoilers! I don’t accept he’s dead. I’m in denial, I know, but we’ll have to wait and see. If he wasn’t “dead”, he’d be a lot higher up the list.

Favourite quote:

Jon Snow: First lesson: stick ’em with the pointy end.

Missandei:

Game of Thrones Missandei

I can’t really explain why Missandei is so great, really… you know when someone just has those memorable facial expressions? After being a slave for so long, she got used to being  quiet and submissive. When Daenerys freed her she stayed as her friend and hand maiden, yet her social skills pretty much stayed the same. Watching her completely agree and “sass” out at Daenerys’ epic comments though is so fun to pick up on.

Favourite quote:

Missandei: Valar Morghulis.

  1. I’m afraid I’d be a huge bust on this one, since I don’t watch Game of Thrones… We tried watching season 1, and the style just wasn’t to our taste. Interestingly, my dad is a big fan… I really like some of the actors (especially Natalie Dormer), but I’ll stick with other series/movies she’s been in (Mockingjay, anyone? 🙂 )

  2. I definitely like all the characters you’ve mentioned as well, but my heart goes out to Sansa. I feel like not a lot of people like her character and I get that she was terrible in the beginning, but I love her and weirdly her POVs even became one of my favourite parts in the books and then also in the show. I really like Brienne of Tarth and Jamie Lannister as well. Definitely didn’t think I’d ever say that when the show or books started hahaha

    • Completely agree with you. Sansa just gets better and better. I love her and Littlefinger’s story line a lot too.
Same with Brienne and Jamie! Literally just rewatched their kidnapping encounter in S3 and I enjoy them both separately from now onwards.
It was such a hard choice to pick 6! I even had to leave Drogo off the list and I think he is such a great character.

  5. Arya Stark !!! I would have put her right after Daenerys for sure 🙂 I love that you have put Missandei as well. I am a fan of her character too but she does not get enough attention in the series as much as she gets in the books. But then again, the books and series have a different story line as well. Oh and by the way forgot to introduce myself 🙂 I am Minaxi and stumbled across your blog and am so happy to be your new follower ❤

    • Ah, I don’t know why I missed her out! I love her storyline – I can’t actually decide if I prefer her early plot line or her Many Faces story line!
I think Missandei is fantastic :). Watching her in season 5 (again) at the moment and she’s just as spectacular.
Hello! Thanks and I’m really glad you like my blog. I’ll be sure to check yours out too :).
