Writing a post about Game of Thrones was never going to be easy. Not only is it incredibly difficult to actually choose my favourite characters, but all their names are underlined with red squiggly lines… Yeah, none of them are in the dictionary. I can’t be dealing with that!
Let’s get on with this.
Game of Thrones (The ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series, if you’re a book reader) is a fantastic story full of fantasy, brutality, betrayal, familial war, monsters, dragons and, to be completely honest, boobs. It’s really great. When talking about Game of Thrones though, you’ve got to admit to the absolute insane number of characters that are included in both the books and the series. At some points, it’s almost impossible to remember everyone’s name – but the ones you do remember… oh my, they’re memorable.
Here are my six favourite Game of Thrones characters, and trust me, this was a hard decision to make!
This was, without a doubt, the easiest choice in tonight’s “super six”. She is Queen Daenerys of House Targaryen, First of Her Name, Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons. As if you needed anything other than that, she is incredible.
Missandei: Valar Morghulis.
Daenerys Targaryen: Yes. All men must die, but we are not men.
Mocked for his size, hated by his father, falsely accused for murder and completely unappreciated. Yet, Tyrion is very intelligent, witty, sarcastic, hilarious and kind. Sadly, everyone he’s surrounded by is miserable and angry, so they just can’t see how great he is. I’m so excited to see how Tyrion’s story progresses in Season 6.

Margaery is known for her beauty and kindness. Little does everyone in Westeros know, she’s very cunning. She has plans. For me though, it’s those sassy eyebrows.
Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish: Do you want to be a queen?
Margaery Tyrell: No. I want to be *the* queen.
Grey Worm, Commander of the Unsullied (a horrifically abused slave army, before Daenerys freed them), is not only an incredible fighter but also completely loyal friend and companion of my boss lady, Dany Targaryen.
Grey Worm: A single day of freedom is worth more than a lifetime in chains.
Obviously, Jon Snow had to be on this list… cause, it’s Jon Snow. Moody, and practically known as a “scowl” with body, Jon stomps his way across Westeros not quite knowing the importance of his role in the war.
Spoilers! I don’t accept he’s dead. I’m in denial, I know, but we’ll have to wait and see. If he wasn’t “dead”, he’d be a lot higher up the list.
Jon Snow: First lesson: stick ’em with the pointy end.
I can’t really explain why Missandei is so great, really… you know when someone just has those memorable facial expressions? After being a slave for so long, she got used to being quiet and submissive. When Daenerys freed her she stayed as her friend and hand maiden, yet her social skills pretty much stayed the same. Watching her completely agree and “sass” out at Daenerys’ epic comments though is so fun to pick up on.
Missandei: Valar Morghulis.
Who is your favourite character? Did you agree with my choices?
