Honestly, January has been a miserable month. People usually moan about the beginning of the year being a tough one, but I’ve never felt it before. I must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed on January 1st, and things just didn’t brighten up!

I’m hoping February will even things out of little, though. I guess I’m starting to feel a little better so I’d like to hope things can only get better from here. February brings Valentines Day, too, and although a lot of people moan about it being a money-grabbing waste of time, I disagree. Me and Matthew are both big romantics all the time anyway, but any excuse to be loved up is a winner for me.

One thing I didn’t manage to accomplish in January was featuring a guest writer! I’d still like to try this out, so I’ll try again in February.

Anyway, here’s January’s wrap-up and the first wrap-up for 2016. (If you missed it, here’s my December wrap-up, too):

Personal Achievements and Memorable Moments:

  • I went to a board game cafe for the first time called The Boardroom.
  • I did my first bit of event photography for Hull’s Assemble Fest. I’m completely anti-social and as awkward as it gets, but I managed.
  • I purchased a domain name for my blog and it’s now called “The Rose Quartz”. Yey.
  • I made a felt fox and a felt bird and they’re seriously the cutest things in the world.

  • We finished series 1 of Glee, and loved it. The finale was awesome, and I can’t wait to start series 2.
  • Me and Matt bought a Kinect for the Xbox One and now we can have a little boogie to Just Dance or climb rocks and jet-ski in our living room. The future.
  • We’re currently re-watching Supernatural series 5, and also the new episodes of Supernatural series 11. You can never have enough Supernatural in your life!
  • I’m in the middle of The Girl With All The Gifts, but haven’t picked it up in a while – nothing wrong with the book, I’m just lacking in concentration at the moment.
  • I bought a new telephoto lens for my Canon 750D, and it’s spectacular.

  1. Sounds like you had a busy month without the guest writer. I hope you manage to find one. I mean someone like you a bit geeky, weird. There must be someone πŸ˜‰

  2. My January mostly involved health concerns and kids’ things…just the usual around here… In terms of blogging, I decided to try a few new things…translation, I’m not quite sure what to write about at the moment, so I started scouring the internet for fun or beautiful images to stick on my posts… πŸ˜› And I started featuring my fiction ventures… Think the name will stay the same (I like The Invisible Moth)… I think The Rose Quartz is very fitting for you. πŸ™‚ Here’s to February bringing the new and the better!

    • Hope you’re okay regarding health concerns!
I had writer’s block in January quite a lot too actually. I’d love to feature fiction on my own blog, but I do worry that my writing wouldn’t be good enough. I wrote a lot of short stories at school, and I was thinking about sharing one the other day – then I got scared and backed out haha!
Thank you. I like my new name too! I’m actually writing a post that will be up either Monday or Tuesday about the origin of the name :).
Hope your February is a good month!

      • I have three teeth that need some pretty serious dental work…in order of seriousness…you know, there’s one tooth that’s the worst, then tooth B and C can wait a bit… But it’s still no fun, and it’s been a major pain (not just literally), because I have an infection as well, which means I’m on my third round of antibiotics and constantly grumpy and/or not feeling well. :/
Don’t be afraid to try posting new things. I really wasn’t sure what the heck I was doing when I posted my “First Short Story Day”….especially since I generally don’t write short stories, and it was an experiment in itself… But it’s worth taking the risk. πŸ™‚

      • Oh dear. Dentists are the worst. I’m terrified of them. I hope you’re not scared too because serious dental work + a fear of dental work can’t work out well for your mind! I hope everything goes well :).

      • Yeah, I don’t like going to the dentist…it’s been my experience that some of them have a serious “bedside manner” issue… Luckily I’ve found one that I like, so for the moment at least I’m not concerned about that. Thanks…we’ll just have to see!
